WELCOME!
Since spring 2019, the Anderson Classroom to Career (C2C) Center has made possible for the Sentry School of Business and Economics to have its internship presentations in an expo format, where students who had internships talk to other students and faculty about their experiences, in a very engaging and interactive atmosphere. Students who visit the expo also have the
chance to network with employers in the area and hopefully establish connections for future internships or even full-time job opportunities. We have had students getting internship offers on the spot in the last two expos! We are excited to see everyone at our in-person event on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Students will have the chance to connect with interns and employers, learn about specific internships that were done this summer, and receive Pro Events credit. What I did: Called client managers, learned sales skills, networked with other colleagues, used and worked with SalesForce CRM, made over 100+ calls a day, booked client meetings for commission bonuses. What I liked: I liked the structure and the information I learned throughout it.

What I did: Completed NM’s pre-training licensing requirements, studying for and passing the Wisconsin state Life exam and the Wisconsin state Accident & Health exam. Attended structured onboarding and training sessions covering NM’s sales methodology and their product lines. Researched and compiled targeted prospecting lists by industry and business size to identify qualified small-business leads. Developed an Excel- based dashboard to track outreach activity and prospect status. Conducted daily cold calls and outreach to small-business owners to schedule introductory meetings. Prepared call scripts and outreach messaging for phone and written communication. Shadowed client meetings and financial planning discussions led by my mentor to observe the sales and planning process firsthand. Tracked weekly prospecting metrics and activity goals against licensing and client-acquisition milestones, consistent with the activity-based system used across all NM district offices. Met regularly with mentor Cale Jakusz, for coaching on prospecting technique and professional development. Maintained accurate, up-to-date records of client and prospect interactions in compliance with company standards. What I liked: I loved the freedom to learn and grow within ourselves. We had the ability to open our own book and start our own business, which is very cool as a sophomore in college. The planning process is also awesome, the ability to find gaps in peoples financial picture and help them to achieve their goals and dreams is a very fulfilling feeling. Future Dream Job: My future dream job would be a private wealth manager at a major firm, preferably fortune 500.

What I did: In this internship I completed training in how to do 1040s which are individual tax returns. The bulk of my internship I did Fixed assets conversions. That is where you take the 2025 tax return and take those assets and make sure the basis and deprecation on fixed assets match Federal, State and AMT. Also completed Sch E and C and K-1s. What I liked: I liked working in an office setting. I Also liked doing the fixed assets conversions because it felt gratifying when I finally got everything to match. Future Dream Job: Working in the private sector doing financial accounting.

Tyler Cech University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point What I did: Assisted with administrative operations, learned and observed the ORR process, observed evidence management procedures, shadowed dispatchers, assisted with and observed report writing, assisted in and observed a WSP leadership course, and rode with troopers during traffic senior at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, where he is pursuing a bachelor’s Business Administration. He enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending as much oors as possible. He’s originally from Washburn, Wisconsin, and comes from a family ckground in law enforcement. His father retired as a deputy with the Bayfield County Office. Tyler’s goal is to become a Trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol because he e professionalism, integrity, and commitment to service that the organization represents. I liked the variety of the internship and the opportunity to work with multiple different work units. I especially enjoyed the hands-on experiences and learning how each portion of the State Patrol works together to support the organization’s mission. What I did: I sold projects, I did all my own marketing to promote my branch in the Green Bay area, and then I also hired workers and helped produce and manage the projects I sold. What I liked: I liked it all. It was very good experience for me, it was also very well rounded in every part of running a business. It is still a small company and I consistently could talk with the owner about any problems or hiccups. It created a really great atmosphere even though I was running everything by myself in my own space. Future Dream Job: As of right now I don’t have one, I’m still figuring out the direction I want to take after all this is over.

What I did: Conduct coefficient of friction tests to assist in an ongoing investigation regarding a high-risk customer complaint. Collection and recording of data into a format that allowed for easy analysis and viewing. Check production schedule daily to ensure any orders for high-risk customers were marked for audit. Daily production schedule check to ensure there were no high-risk orders or materials running to notify production supervisors of. Daily check of holds that occurred during the previous day/evening. Inspection of materials put on hold. Disposition of materials that were did not meet quality control standards. Ensuring all new materials and technical specifications for those materials were input into the processing software used by the company. Monitoring and updating trainings to comply with changing OSHA and company standards/timelines. Performing food defense audits on different departments around the plant. Performing food safety audits and collecting samples for testing. Ensuring the inventory that was in the database matched the inventory that was on the production floor and in the quality control area. Communicating with supervisors to schedule testing that required the help of the production floor. Examining and inspecting product as it was run on different machines on the production floor with engineering and technical staff to find root cause and report back to the customer. Schedule and lead meetings to discuss any major findings or to determine “next-step” actions. Lead the quality portion of two daily quality meetings for the Blown Film department and report any findings or upcoming events. Collaborate with supervisors and engineers to work around quality concerns of raw materials used in production What I liked: I liked the variety of the work that I was doing. Every day was different. I had my “everyday” tasks, but after about 8:00AM, every single day took a different path. I also enjoyed having the freedom to work when I wanted and being allowed to travel to other plants to tour them and to gain insights on their process and how I could use them for projects I was working on. Future Dream Job: My future dream job is to be a project manager, quality manager or production manager; all at a manufacturing facility. Long-term, I would like to become a plant manager at a manufacturing facility.

Finally, I connected more to the community by venturing around Phuket to find letters that spell out “RESTDAY” through what I naturally find exploring. I have filled a very large, empty wall with this as well as designing a shirt for them as well. What I liked: I love that it is a once in a lifetime thing. I am glad that I was able to explore another country’s economy and business format. I also got to essentially do tourist stuff and call it work. Future Dream Job: Content creator for travel.

I also reviewed unallowable costs under CAS 405 and FAR 31.205, prepared monthly Aftermarket monitorship rates, and assisted with year-end rate packages. Additionally, I improved the rates index, conducted quarterly voucher evaluations, and used Excel formulas and data tools to organize and analyze financial data. What I liked: I liked being able to bring skills from my classes into real-life situations with a real purpose. I also enjoyed getting involved in a new community and building my professional skills. Future Dream Job: I hope to become a financial analyst or auditor where I can use my skills to contribute to meaningful work and make a positive impact.

What I did: During my summer HR internship at Lake Lawn Resort, I supported recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations while helping implement a new HRIS and payroll system, Paylocity. I served as the primary HR contact for international employees in the Cultural Exchange Program, assisting with onboarding, transportation, housing, and workplace concerns. I also independently facilitated orientations, created HR documentation, administered employee feedback surveys, and helped coordinate employee engagement activities. This experience strengthened my skills in talent acquisition, HRIS implementation, cross-cultural communication, and HR operations in a fast-paced hospitality environment. What I liked: I loved getting the chance to help with the cultural exchange program, we had 43 students from eight different countries come to Lake Lawn Resort to work for the summer. Future Dream Job: My future dream job would be to work as an investor or in marketing for a company. I’m interested in both the financial and creative sides of business, so I would like a career where I can use both of those skills.

Keeping track of overheads and paying bills for the agriculture department. Handling supply orders. Transitioned systems and contracts for the new crop year (July 1). Assisted the field department with preparing binders for each storage with harvest materials for the new crop. Maintaining waste usage spreadsheets for the plant and other quality reports to help them to decide what raw to order for which skews. Supporting our seed clerk with her overhead expenses. Joining an AI project where we created automatic payment checks, saving our team roughly 20+ hours a week on manual checks. What I liked: I loved that I was able to do my internship in my current job. I was able to learn a lot from the projects that I was added in to, and it gave me confidence to take on more projects that are outside of my comfort zone in the future. Future Dream Job: This is my dream job I would say, but I’d like to do more traveling and work more with AI in creating tools that could benefit the company. And yes, that is a photo of me, my boss and a couple people on my team on a team- building trip in Canada.
