Leading aerospace and defense company Leonardo SpA walks on the path of innovation and disruption. Leonardo caters to futuristic helicopters and aircrafts and space and unmanned systems. One of the most innovative aircrafts is the M-345, the future aircraft of the Italian aerobatic team Frecce Tricolori. The M-345 is set to revolutionize training for combat pilots. In line with the most advanced standards for fighter aircrafts, the avionics of the M-345 include an innovative human-machine interface, and the embedded tactical training system permits reproduction of complex tactical scenarios during training flights. To achieve its vision, Leonardo knew it would also need to revolutionize its own business technology. The company sought to begin a digital transformation at its plant in Venegono, Italy, where the M-345 is produced from composite airframe build up, to the assembly line, and finally to its maiden flight. For this transformation to succeed, Leonardo needed technology partners who could collaborate to provide and implement the right solutions.
