WE'RE TAKING YOU TO THE FRENCH RIVIERA Vodimo vas na Azurnu obalu

Avgust August

Scents of the Mediterranean

Dear Passengers, Some of the most memorable moments of a jo- urney happen even before we reach our destinati- on. As we travel between two cities, between dai- ly life and new experiences, we have an opportunity to pause, look around, and embrace the joy of dis- covering the world. The August edition of our magazine takes you to the Mediterranean, to Nice and Palermo, cities that have attracted travellers for generations, with their rich history and culture, and with their unique atmospheres. I hope the pages of this issue of Ele- vate will inspire your future journeys and remind you that every new journey out into the world is an oppor- tunity to broaden our horizons. The growing desire to travel is also reflected in the results we are achieving. During the first six mon- ths of this year, more than two million passengers chose Air Serbia for their journey. To us, this achieve- ment represents far more than a number – it is con- firmation of the trust you place in us, and motivati- on to continue growing and developing our business in line with your expectations. In this issue, you will also learn more about the new Airbus A320 aircraft that have recently joined our fleet, as well as the people whose expertise and professionalism help drive Air Serbia’s success every day. Among them is Dina Milovanović, the second female ATR captain in our airli- ne, whose career is an inspiring example of dedication and perseverance.

Miris Mediterana

Thank you for choosing to travel with us. I wish you a pleasant flight.

ZAHVALJUJUĆI NOVIM DESTINACIJAMA I PROGRAMU LOJALNOSTI THANKS TO THE NEW DESTINATIONS AND THE LOYALTY PROGRAM DVA MILIONA PUTNIKA ZA MANJE OD ŠEST MESECI TWO MILLION PASSENGERS CARRIED IN LESS THAN SIX MONTHS Er Srbija je 27. juna 2026. godine prevezla svog dvomilionitog putnika od početka godine, tri dana ranije nego 2025, potvrđujući nastavak stabilnog rasta Air Serbia welcomed its two-millionth passenger since the start of the year on 27 th June, three days earlier than in 2025, confirming the airline’s continued stable growth

– Iza nas je izuzetno uspešna prva polovina godine, obeležena stabilnim rastom tražnje i dobrim rezultatom – dvomilionitog putnika dočekali smo ranije nego prošle godine.

Air Serbia transported a total of 2,062,488 passengers over the course of the first six months of 2026, almost 57,000 more than in the same period of last year. The company also operated 23,225 flights during the same period, over 1,000 more than in the first half of last year. Positive trends also continued in the second quarter, from April to June, when Air Serbia carried nearly 1.25 million passengers, representing growth of 2.69% compared with the same period of last year. That period also saw 13,192 flights operated, 4.39% more than in Q2 2025. “We’ve had an extremely successful first half of the year, marked by stable growth in demand and strong results – we welcomed our two- millionth passenger earlier than last year. We are extremely proud that, at the very beginning of the second quarter, specifically starting on 30 th April, we launched our first flights to new and attractive destinations like Santorini, Baku, Munich, Toronto, Alicante and Brač, confirming that we have a good understanding of the needs and expectations of our passengers and respond successfully to their specific tourism and business requirements. In addition to network expansion, this quarter also brought a strategic innovation when we introduced the new Elevate loyalty programme, designed to provide our loyal customers with additional benefits and raise the flying experience to an even higher level,” said Air Serbia CEO Jiří Marek. Air Serbia’s most popular destinations in the region during this period were Tivat, Ljubljana and Podgorica, while among Western European destinations the highest demand was recorded for flights to Zurich, Paris, Vienna, London, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Milan. In the wider Euro-Mediterranean network, Athens, Larnaca and Istanbul stood out, while the most popular destination in the carrier’s long-haul traffic was New York.

AT THE HEART OF MANHATTAN AIR SERBIA CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF FLIGHTS TO NEW YORK

T he Serbian national airline has marked a major anniversary: ten years since the establishment of its direct route between Belgrade and New York, representing one of the most important intercontinental connections between Serbia and the world. This decade of transatlantic flights was celebrated in New York, at a place that carries special symbolism for domestic aviation: the Rockefeller Center. It was no coincidence that this very location was chosen to mark this important date. The offices of JAT, the largest Yugoslav airline, were once located in the Rockefeller Center. Thus, with this event, Air Serbia went back in history to the place where it once resided, in a special way. The celebration took place in one of New York’s most beautiful rooftop gardens, overlooking the recognisable Manhattan skyline. Rockefeller Center, as one of the symbols of this great city, provided the perfect backdrop for the evening, which wasn’t only a corporate jubilee, but an emotional story about identity, continuity, and Serbia’s connection with America. The evening brought together guests who represent, in different ways, a bridge between Serbia and the U.S. They included representatives of the diplomatic corps from Washington and New York, consuls and officials, but also the airline’s key business partners, most important passengers and corporate clients, distinguished Serbs from the diaspora living in New York, as well as Air Serbia CEO Jiri Marek. .The development of this route has been accompanied by the development of the national airline’s long-haul traffic, alongside its acquiring of Airbus A330-200 aircraft and forming of partnerships that enable passengers to continue connections to numerous destinations throughout the States. After New York, Air Serbia The direct flight between Belgrade and New York was established in 2016 and has carried more than 750,000 passengers over the last ten years

introduced direct flights to Chicago in 2023, while this year it has further expanded its network in North America with the introduction of its route to Toronto. “It was ten years ago that we opened the door to a direct connection between Serbia and the United States of America, and today this route represents an important pillar of our international operations. Continuity in its development and stable demand show how important it is for passengers and our company,” said George Petković, Air Serbia Vice President Americas. The Rockefeller Center jubilee was more than a celebration of a single aviation route. It served as a reminder of JAT’s heritage, confirmation of Air Serbia’s current strength and a look towards a future in which Belgrade increasingly plays the role of an important regional hub. From the former offices of JAT at the heart of New York to Air Serbia’s modern transatlantic flights, the story of this route shows that aviation isn’t just about transportation from point A to point B. It is a connection between people, cities and generations - and that’s exactly why a decade of flights to New York is a jubilee that has special weight.

August is a month when the Mediterranean lives to the max. The scent of salt mixed with the aroma of wild basil, long twilights that melt into warm nights and that distinctive, lazy rhythm in which enjoying the moment is the only obligation. But while most tourists stick to beaten tracks and postcard scenes that we’ve all seen countless times, the real summer hedonism is hidden in the places frequented by locals. Thanks to Air Serbia’s direct flights, we are this season taking you to two iconic Mediterranean destinations, though in a completely different way. We start out with Nice, which carries the scent of secret craft perfumeries in the streets of the Old Town, then head to Sicily, where history is read through incredible street food and Palermo’s sumptuous baroque look. Between French elegance and Italian passion

Hidden charm of the Côte d’Azur The first association when you think of Nice is probably the blue and white deckchairs adorning the Promenade des Anglais, the city’s iconic English promenade, and the glamour of the Côte d’Azur. However, Nice has another face, an almost rebellious one, more reminiscent of Italy than of France. And this isn’t actually surprising, given that it only officially became part of France in 1860. To feel the true soul of Nice, you have to leave behind the main promenade No visit to Nice would be complete without a stroll through the Vieux Nice (Old Town). A maze of narrow alleyways and buildings in pastel hues, with distinctive green shutters and strung clotheslines that bring the spirit of tradition, the beating heart of this part of town is the Cours Saleya, a square that hosts a famous market selling flowers and local produce. After visiting the market, a classic activity is to climb the Colline du Château. Although there’s almost nothing left of the castle itself, the hilltop’s famous panoramic view of the Bay of Angels adorns postcards the world over. The large artificial waterfall at the top provides perfect refreshment during the heat of August. Conclude this classic route by walking past the iconic Hotel Negresco, a masterpiece of Belle Epoque architecture that testifies to the time when the charms of this city were first discovered by the world’s kings, emperors and artists. and let the city surprise you. The tradition dates back to 1860, when Scottish gentleman Sir Thomas Coventry-More, a resident of Nice, was frustrated that his wife was always late for lunch because she lost track of the time while walking. He asked the City authorities to fire a cannon at noon to remind her that it was time to eat. The wife has gone down in history, but the tradition remains, and today harmless pyrotechnics are used instead of a real cannon. Hedonism on a plate In Nice, you can enjoy original Mediterranean “Cuisine Nissarde”, which celebrates simple, fresh ingredients. Forget about expensive restaurants, the best food here is found on the streets. Seek out Socca, a thin flatbread made from chickpea flour, olive oil and plenty of black pepper, which is baked in huge copper pans over an open fire. You’ll find the best examples in Vieux Nice at Chez Rene Socca. Pan Bagnat, which translates as “bathed bread”, is ideal for lunch on the beach. It’s actually a famous Salade Niçoise – containing tuna, anchovies, hard- boiled eggs, radishes and olives – packed into a crispy, round loaf that’s generously soaked in local olive oil. You also shouldn’t miss out on Pissaladière, a local version of pizza without tomatoes that’s topped with a thick layer of caramelised onions, anchovies and black olives. Nice is the perfect base to explore the French Riviera. Just a twenty- minute train ride away is Villefranche- sur-Mer, a charming fishing town with a beautiful bay and brightly coloured houses that descend to the waterfront. If you’re a fan of dramatic landscapes, take a bus up to the medieval hilltop village of Èze, which is literally “hung” on a rocky outcrop at 427 metres above sea level. The breathtaking view from its exotic garden extends over the entire Riviera. Of course, neither Cannes nor Monte Carlo are far away either... What to visit in the surrounding area?

classics, it’s time to venture off the beaten track. Head to the aristocratic quarter of Cimiez. This oasis of tranquillity hides beautiful olive groves that date back hundreds of years, a Roman amphitheatre and, most importantly, Cimiez Monastery. Its gardens are the oldest on the Côte d’Azur, entrance is free of charge, and the views over the city and the sea are serene and silent. For lovers of unusual stories, there’s the Russian Orthodox Saint Nicholas Cathedral. With its colourful bulbous domes, this cathedral appears as though it’s been magically teleported from Moscow straight into the greenery of the Mediterranean. The largest church of its kind in Western Europe, it serves as a reminder of the Russian nobles who spent their winters on the French Riviera. Afterwards, explore the Quartier des Antiquaires in the area around the city’s port. This labyrinth of small shops offering vintage clothes, old posters and unique furniture is where local artists gather at small, unpretentious cafés. If you want to bathe without crowds, avoid the public pebble beaches along the Promenade and continue to Coco Beach, a secluded intimate beach hidden among the rocks that’s ideal for those seeking peace without hundreds of sunbeds and parasols. It is actually an area of hidden flat rocks under the bay that’s mostly frequented by locals, who leap into the deep, crystal-clear water.

Čuvena salata iz Nice je veoma jednostavna i lagana, ali može da bude glavni obrok The famous salad from Nice is very simple and light, but it can be a main meal

Chez Matisse Nice enjoys a special light that’s been attracting artists for decades. That’s why a visit to the museum dedicated to Henri Matisse (Musée Matisse) is a must during this trip. Housed in a luxurious Genoese villa dating back to the 17 th century and surrounded by an olive grove that’s a century old, this museum boasts one of the largest collections of his works. By viewing Matisse’s canvases and famous collages right here in Nice, you’ll realise how this city shaped modern art. At noon precisely The boom of a powerful cannon echoes around Nice every day at noon precisely. This often scares tourists, but the locals don’t bat an

Zatim sledi monumentalna Ka -

The pomp of Sicilian Baroque Palermo isn’t a city for everyone, simply because it’s loud, chaotic, dramatic and absolutely irresistible. Located on Sicily’s northern coast, throughout its history this city has been influenced by occupying Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Normans and Spaniards. That incredible historical cocktail created a cultural theatre the likes of which can be found nowhere else in Europe. Unavoidable classics It is a must for your visit to start from the Quattro Canti (Four Corners) intersection. This is the city’s baroque heart, where two main streets intersect and four identical, semicircular façades are adorned with statues representing the four seasons, four Spanish kings and the city’s four patron saints. In the immediate vicinity is the Piazza Pretoria, with its magnificent Fontana Pretoria fountain, which was dubbed the Fountain of Shame during the Inquisition, due to its statues of nude nymphs and gods. Next comes the monumental Cathedral of Palermo, a UNESCO protected architectural chameleon – having begun its life as

a Byzantine basilica, only to become a mosque, before being transformed into a Christian church once again. It includes Norman, Gothic and Baroque elements. Don’t overlook the Palazzo dei Normanni and its interior treasure, the Cappella Palatini, with walls covered completely in golden Byzantine mosaics that shimmer under candlelight. And, yes, the city’s opera house: the Teatro Massimo – the largest opera house in Italy and the third largest in Europe. Opera arias still resound through the beautiful square at the bottom of the

staircase, - the very staircase where a daughter paid for her father’s sins, or rather, where Michael Corleone in The Godfather 3 screams without a voice to the sounds of the climax of Cavaleria Rusticana! It’s all worth remembering. Secret locations When you’ve had your fill of the main attractions, turn to the city’s lesser- known corners. Visit the Oratory of San Lorenzo, with an interior decorated with highly detailed snow-white stucco work that looks

Nature and the sea If you yearn for nature and reinvigoration, head southeast from the city to the Cavagrande del Cassibile Nature Reserve. There you are awaited by a dramatic, 250-metre- deep canyon, at the bottom of which are hidden, natural pools with clean, cold fresh water, surrounded by dense greenery. This is a Sicilian paradise that hardly any tourists know about. For seaside indulgence, head to the hamlet of Fontane Bianche near Syracuse, with its fine white sand beach, or take a trip to the mythical Isola Bella beach at the foot of Taormina, where a small pebble beach meets a miniature island that’s been turned into a botanical garden. Ferragosto Mid-August (15 th August) is reserved for Ferragosto, which is a holiday that sees all of Sicily collectively relocate to the coast. Beaches all over the island come alive the night before, when bonfires are lit and concerts held. Then, at midnight precisely, hundreds of people head into the sea for a traditional nocturnal swim under the stars. August is also the month of local food festivals known as Sagra. Almost every inland village organises its own celebration dedicated to a certain cheese, wine, melons or figs, where – for just a few euros – you can eat alongside the locals at long wooden tables, accompanied by the sounds of traditional music. Hedonism on a plate Palermo is the world’s street food capital. In order to experience it, you must visit the historic street markets of Ballaro and Vucciria, where traders entice customers by singing loudly. Try the famous fried rice balls known as arancini. Another local speciality is sfinchone, a soft, spongy Sicilian pizza topped with a sauce made from tomatoes, onions, anchovies and sheep’s cheese. For a delectable dessert, cannoli filled with fresh ricotta, or almond granita, which the locals eat for breakfast during August, must be accompanied by a warm, sweet brioche bun with an aesthetic “hat” - brioche col tuppo.

as though it’s made of the finest porcelain. This place also hides a great mystery, as it was here that Caravaggio’s Nativity painting hung, before it was stolen by the Sicilian mafia in 1969. It remains on Interpol’s list of the most wanted works of art. Instead of the famous, but pretty morbid Capuchin Catacombs, choose instead to walk through the city’s botanical garden, Orto Botanico. Established in the late 18 th century, this garden is home to giant Ficus trees and represents an oasis of tranquillity in this otherwise noisy city. You should also seek out Count Federico Palace, which is one of the oldest buildings in Palermo. A special fact regarding this palace is that it is still home to the count’s family, with tours often led by the count himself, who will show you his private collections of weapons and his home’s baroque salons. Heads of the Moors Strolling the streets of Palermo, you will notice beautiful ceramic vases shaped like the head of a Moorish man (Teste di Moro) adorning windows and balconies. At the root of their creation is a legend of passion and revenge. In the 11th century, a young girl from Palermo fell in love with a Moorish merchant. When she found out that he had a wife and children back east, and that he was planning to leave her, she waited for

him to fall asleep before beheading him and using his severed head to make a pot in which she planted basil. The basil grew so abundantly that all her envious neighbours made clay copies of their own, and so this most famous symbol of Sicily was born, which we also had an opportunity to see in the famous White Lotus TV series.

Surrender to the sounds of historic markets, hidden baroque palaces and legends that live in the streets of Sicily
