COMMITMENT ZUMTOBEL GROUP
The 2025/26 Sustainability Report opens with an interview with CEO Alfred Felder and Sustainability Director Sebastian Gann. Together, they discuss current trends and the progress made, reflect on the five-year history of the Zumtobel Group’s sustainability goals, and look ahead to future plans.
CEO Alfred FeldeR
Sustainability Director Sebastian Gann
To get started: the lighting management platform LightingGO features on the cover of this year’s sustainability report. What’s the story behind it? Alfred Felder: LightingGO is an essential instrument for sustainability. The system brings the expertise of the Zumtobel Group together with its brands Zumtobel, Thorn and Tridonic, whilst also reflecting our sus- tainability goals of reducing emissions, pro- moting a circular economy and developing sustainable partnerships. At the heart of this are intelligent drivers, such as those from Tridonic: They enable the transfer of data – including data that, for example, allows the use of luminaires to be optimised, enabling a reduction of energy consumption. They also increasingly provide data that offers insights into the condition of the luminaire, meaning maintenance or repairs can be planned in advance and consequently extending its
service life. Overall, this integrated solution supports our customers and partners in meeting the rising demands for energy efficiency, decarbonisation and building performance.
What can readers expect from this year’s sustainability report?
Sebastian Gann: The report highlights our progress. It shows that every single measure contributes to the bigger picture and that we are continuously moving towards a more sustainable future. Examples of our progress are lighting management systems, that allow already energy-efficient luminaires to be operated even more energy-efficiently, or our portfolio of circular services, which now of- fers a remanufacturing option. By remanufac- turing luminaires in this way, we have created a further opportunity to close the cycle. The Zumtobel Group reports on achievements

sustainability within the company. First ideas have become processes, and individual initiatives have become binding standards. With our SBTi-validated climate roadmap, the Circular Design Rules, digital data structures and our first circular services, such as refurbishment and remanufacturing, we have built a sound foundation. Today, we have the tools, expertise and partnerships to take the next steps in our development. In the future, sustainability data, processes and solutions are to be systematically digiti- sed and automated to meet both regulatory requirements and customer demands with a high level of efficiency. We have learnt that regulatory requirements can also lead to opportunities for innovation that help our customers become more efficient and future-proof. Developments such as these shape our three sustainability goals, which will continue to guide us in the future. What trends are you currently observing in the field of sustainability, and where is the Zumtobel Group's journey headed? AF: Sustainability is becoming increasingly data-driven and connected. Lighting ma- nagement systems such as LightingGO, the requirements of the EPBD, digital product information and circular business models such as remanufacturing demonstrate just how closely sustainability, digitalisation and innovation are now linked. It is no longer just a matter of creating transparency: data helps us to use energy more efficiently, make the most of resources for longer and develop new added value for customers. This is precisely where I see one of the most important opportunities for the future. The combination of digitalisation, energy efficien- cy and resource efficiency opens up new solutions, services and business models. We want to realise this potential together – with our employees, customers and partners. Only by working together can we continue to build a sustainable future.
such as these in line with the ESRS (Euro- pean Sustainability Reporting Standard) – as part of this, we assess the impacts, risks and opportunities that affect us. We also evaluate all sustainability aspects relevant to the Zum- tobel Group as part of our double materiality analysis. Mr Felder, the 2025/26 financial year was challenging in both economic and geopolitical terms. Despite this, there were some great achievements in the area of sustainability – what was your highlight? AF: The highlight at the start of the year was without doubt the renewed recognition of our sustainably designed exhibition space at Light + Building 2026. It is always impressive to see that so many elements of our exhi- bition stand have either already been used or will be reused afterwards, resulting in a reduced environmental footprint. Another highlight worth mentioning is the lighting so- lution from our Zumtobel and Thorn brands, which ensures high energy efficiency and sustainable use: we have set new standards in the retail sector at PENNY’s store in Wei- den, Austria, where sustainability is addres- sed as a whole. Finally, as a great end to the financial year, our Group-wide sustainability performance was recognised for the first time with the highest award of a Platinum medal by the independent sustainability platform EcoVadis. Before looking ahead, let’s take a look back: for five years now, the Zumtobel Group has been working towards its sustainability goals of Net-Zero, Circular Economy and being a Partner of Choice. What foundations have been built in the dynamic field of sustainability to ensure continued success over the next five years? SG: Over the past five years, our Sustai- nability Team, together with the specialist departments, has created the conditions necessary to systematically establish

optimise product costs. Products for both the Lighting Segment and the Components Segment are produced in individual areas at Dornbirn, Niš and Spennymoor in separate areas and under separate organisation and management. Lemgo serves as the compe- tence centre for the production of spot and downlights, while Shenzhen manufactures components for standard applications. The Zumtobel Group operated eight plants worldwide as of 30 April 2026.
The sales organisation reflects the two segments and their different sales channels. In the Components Segment, this involves OEM sales (Original Equipment Manu- facturer) to luminaire producers, sales via distributors and online sales as well as the sale of innovative and intelligent solutions to electrical and system planners. Sales in the Lighting Segment are project-based and cover construction projects and the related target groups (e.g. architects, lighting and electrical planners, contractors and deve- lopers), sales through retail channels, and direct sales to large customers and public contracting entities. Lighting solutions are also sold over special online sales channels. The Zumtobel Group is committed to sus- tainable business operations and, through its solutions, to helping its customers more easily reach their sustainability goals. Zumtobel Group AG serves as the parent company of the Group and provides nume- rous corporate management and service functions for the brands. These central functions include finance, human resources, legal, audit & compliance, insurance, sustainability, IT and process management, information security and data protection, strategy and transformation projects, corporate procurement as well as corporate communications and investor relations
Market position and brand positioning
The Zumtobel Group is active worldwide, but Europe remains the most important mar- ket with around 85% of total revenues. The professional lighting industry in Europe is highly fragmented but the Zumtobel Group holds a strong position with its international- ly established Zumtobel and Thorn lighting brands: The market share in Europe equals roughly 7%. The worldwide components industry, in contrast, is characterised by greater consolidation. With its Tridonic com- ponents brand, the Zumtobel Group also holds a leading position in lighting manage- ment and control gears. Tridonic, the Group‘s technology brand, supports customers with intelligent hard- ware and software solutions. With roughly 1,800 patents, it is a global innovation driver for light-based network technology and the development of scalable solutions that support the development, among others, of new business models for lighting producers, building managers and system integrators. Tridonic is not only active in the production of components and system solutions for the Group’s lighting brands, but it also serves as an OEM supplier for luminaire producers and projects throughout the world and ge- nerates around 80% of its revenues outside the Zumtobel Group. The brand’s innovative strength is also demonstrated by a recent award from the Digital Illumination Interface Alliance.

These intelligent systems are increasingly forming the core of the service offering where they support smarter, more efficient and more sustainable lighting solutions. The offering is directed to professional electri- cians, installers, planners and operators as well as light designers, urban developers and municipalities. Thorn solutions are found in and around buildings, educational and healthcare facilities and the retail trade as well as urban areas, streets and tunnels, architecture and sport venues. One import- ant goal is the protection of the nighttime sky with the help of so-called dark sky friendly solutions, and Thorn has extensive know-how and certifications in this area. Its position as a leading provider of lighting solutions is underscored by iconic projects like UNESCO world heritage sites, Olympic sport facilities and large-scale lighting net- works in metropolises throughout the world. This standing is also reflected in internatio- nal partnerships and awards, including FIFA accreditation and Red Dot Design Awards for exterior lighting.
At the international Dali Lighting Awards in 2026, Tridonic was recognised in two inno- vation categories: “Best Emergency Lighting Integration“ and “Sustainability & Energy Efficiency“. Designing innovative, high-quality lighting solutions for every situation is the mission and passion of the Zumtobel brand. The right lighting in the right context creates at- mosphere and can have a positive influence on the quality of life. The Zumtobel portfolio includes innovative and sustainable lighting solutions and high quality luminaires for interiors that are optimised for the specific area of application to meet people’s needs (Human Centric Lighting). Other product areas address applications in intelligent lighting management and emergency systems. The most important applications for these solutions are industry, education, office, retail, gastronomy, healthcare, and art and culture. Valuable impulses for the further development of the portfolio are created not only through the Zumtobel Group’s own internal research and develop- ment, but also by long-standing coopera- tion with leading international architects, lighting planners, designers and artists as well as external partners in the project business. Zumtobel combined technological excellence with a deep understanding for architecture and design to continuously im- prove the aesthetics of light and, in doing so, strike out in new directions. This conviction is illustrated, among others, by the PANOS III luminaire family and Zumtobel EDITIONS. The TALUNA and SKENA luminaires recei- ved the Red Dot Design Award in 2026 for their outstanding product design. Thorn is a leading quality supplier of pro- fessional solutions for indoor and outdoor lighting and stands for high performance, cost efficiency and particularly user-friendly lighting systems. Its broad production spec- trum is complemented by groundbreaking technologies that are focused on customers’ current and future requirements.
Key success factors for the Zumtobel Group
The Zumtobel Group’s leading competitive position is based primarily on three strong brands with widely diversified market access, extensive know-how in lighting ap- plications and a clear technological advan- tage in individual areas. In order to optimally address the various markets, the group has created so-called sales regions – D/A/CH, Europe-West/South, Europe-North/East, and Overseas/Americas/Asia/MEA. The sales function had nearly 1,700 employees in 2025/26, whereby 1,400 employees work for the Lighting Segment and 265 employees for the Components Segment. The design of a customer-specific lighting solution requires extensive knowledge of the product portfolio, the innovative technologi- cal developments and the specific lighting application.

COMPANY
flexibly. The currently visible transformation along the value chain towards smart building ecosystems is a key requirement to sus- tainably strengthen the Zumtobel Group’s competitive position, develop new revenue sources and further expand long-term customer relationships. With its clear brand architecture, the Zumtobel Group is optimal- ly positioned for this transformation. The Smart Building Solutions Division consolidates the product and lighting solution portfolios. The Keyture software platform forms the technological backbone for smart space applications. This modular, multifunctional solution in combination with intelligent sensors supports, among others, maximum energy savings, the data-based maintenance and monitoring of sustainabi- lity goals, real-time space optimisation, the asset tracking of objects, and the monitoring of environmental factors and operational excellence. Partnerships and cooperati- ons – for example with Siemens, ABB and Legrand – were also established to further strengthen and standardise the integration in higher-level building management and automation systems.
The Zumtobel Group sales staff must therefore understand – and be able to convey – not only the technical and func- tional aspects of light and the impact on energy consumption, but also the aesthetic and emotional implications and the positi- ve influence of good lighting on the user’s sense of well-being. Accordingly, detailed and wide-ranging education programmes and continuous training are decisive for the quality of sales. “Launch windows“ are held by the brand product managers twice each year to familiarise their sales colleagues with the latest product developments in the associated lighting applications. In these programmes, the launch managers work closely with the interdepartmental teams to present the benefits and availability of the new products. An extensive patent portfolio and close collaboration with international light design partners and architects underscores the company’s innovative power. A total of EUR 73.6 million was invested in research and development (R&D) during 2025/26 to safeguard the Zumtobel Group’s leading technological position. Today’s challenges include the further development of LED- based lighting quality, rapid digitalisation and the increasing complexity of intelligent lighting systems. The focus is also steadily shifting from the product to complete lighting solutions which offer tangible customer benefits. There is a growing demand for complete, scalable and service-oriented solutions that can be easily integrated in existing infrastructures and deliver measurable added value in operations – for example through energy sa- vings, optimised room usage or data-based services. Connectivity and IoT are the main enablers here: They support the integration of products in higher level platforms, the generation and analysis of data, and the de- sign of new data-based services. Innovation cycles are significantly shortened because functions can be developed faster and more
10
Structural revenue drivers for professio- nal lighting
LED-based lighting solutions with motion and daylight sensors can reduce electricity consumption by up to 80% compared with conventional systems. Legal regulations are increasingly turn- ing to sensor-based, automated lighting management as a requirement for data- based optimisation. Additional functions like real-time energy monitoring or remote maintenance will increase transparency for users and reduce operating costs for facility managers. State-of-the-art lighting control equipment with cloud architecture and wireless communications also facilitate the integration of further sensors and actuators. This, in turn, will support new functions and business models – – for example, the tra- cking of persons and assets over the lighting network, the preparation of heat maps or the measurement of environmental parameters like the air quality and temperature. In this way, energy consumption and comfort can be optimised throughout the entire building and customer benefits will increase. Sustainability is currently influenced by a dynamic regulatory environment. However, this business area also offers new opportu- nities for innovative services and business models – especially in combination with di- gitalisation – which are economically viable because they create both clear customer and ecological benefits. New regulatory requirements are increa- singly calling for the data-based optimisation of building operations through sensor-ba- sed, automated lighting management sys- tems. New buildings and larger renovation projects must disclose their global warming potential (GWP), whereby the goal is to minimise emissions over the entire lifecycle. Data that includes environmental product declarations (EPDs) are becoming a central added value.
Construction activity – both new construc- tion as well as the refurbishment of existing buildings – is one of the main revenue drivers for professional lighting. New cons- truction is almost always focused on the ins- tallation of new lighting, while refurbishment creates a variety of opportunities for the modernisation of lighting systems. These systems help to reduce energy consumption and form the basis for a business case with a positive return on investment (ROI). The Zumtobel Group’s portfolio supports the following alternatives:
•
The conversion of existing lighting through so-called retrofit kits, which involve the replacement of the lighting sources with LED technology as well as the appearance and control electronics.
•
The replacement and installation of new LED luminaires.
•
A remanufacturing service was intro- duced for certain product lines: After a defined operating period, the luminaries can be reconditioned and installed for further use.
The market potential for lighting solutions in Europe is based on roughly two-third of refurbishment measures and only one-third of new construction. This potential can be quantified by comparing construction volumes and lighting volumes. Key factors for future structural revenue drivers are the efficiency gains between older and newer lighting equipment and the resulting energy cost savings. The extent of the energy cost savings is dependent not only on the energy efficiency of the luminaire but also on the use of intelligent lighting systems.

issues involving human resources. This tool provides fast answers based on an exten- sive knowledge database and encourages independence.
In addition to the growing demand for fu- ture-oriented, energy-efficient solutions and complete systems, attention is turning to the materials used – whether previously recyc- led or created through remanufacturing. New circular business models can also reduce costs, raw material requirements and emissions. The first related projects were started and services were implemented during the past financial year to demonstrate the potential and possible distinguishing features of these solutions. The Zumtobel Group’s digital transformation is directed to creating sustainable added value for its stakeholders along the value chain. The key elements include data-driven and AI-supported business models, tools and processes. Intelligent lighting manage- ment systems like Zumtobel lightingGO and the IoT system Keyture act as sustainability enablers and drivers for energy efficiency and data transparency – they are the key to intelligent lighting and create additional ap- plication possibilities for the lighting group’s customers. The new, recently launched Zumtobel and Thorn websites will further strengthen digital customer contacts. With their intuitive handling and greater focus on an outstanding user experience, they create the best possible digital feeling over the entire product and service portfolio. Simplified, automated or AI-supported tools and systems not only empower the Zum- tobel Group’s customers and partners, but also the company’s employees. Based on AI and behavioural economics, the “sales coach” installed during the reporting year provides support through data-based, indivi- dualised feedback. The internal chatbot PIA, the “People Information Agent“, is available to the Zumtobel Group’s employees for
The corporate strategy: FOCUSED[+]
Against the backdrop of a still challenging market environment that is influenced by global uncertainty and a weak economy, the Zumtobel Group continued to consistently implement its FOCUSED[+] strategy and introduced further refinements in key areas. This strategy addresses current economic and geopolitical conditions while further consolidating our activities around smart, sustainable building infrastructure. The objective is to build on our strong founda- tion, expand our competitive position over the long term and position the company securely for the future in light of the in- creasing digitalisation of buildings and the rapidly expanding sustainability demands from legislators and customers. Central strategic elements were further developed in 2025/26: We strengthened our focus on attractive markets, improved our operating excellence, drove innovation and intensified the cooperation of the three strong brands under a single umbrella. These efforts represent the essential building blocks of the foundation to respond flexibly to market changes, effectively utilise opportunities and become more resilient.

DIGITAL PROCESS TRANSFORMATION
The digital transformation has spread to all areas of the business – from product development to production, services and customer interfaces. Cloud technologies, responsive working methods and AI-suppor- ted analyses help us to accelerate proces- ses and develop new business models. This improves process efficiency, makes quality and decision-making capabilities measura- ble and strengthens our data-driven working procedures. Our competitive advantage lies in consequent implementation: Successful AI-applications are transferred to operating processes in a structured manner, scaled across the company and, through our part- ner approach, refined with a focus on both goals and risks.
An efficiency programme to protect the competitive position
The Zumtobel Group’s corporate strate- gy includes a comprehensive efficiency programme which is designed to strengthen operating efficiency and sustainably improve the competitive position. All areas are analy- sed in detail – from sales and administration (SG&A) to operations, procurement, and research & development – and a global pa- ckage of measures is under development for implementation by the end of the 2028/29 financial year.

GUIDING LIGHT
Highlights on the road to Net-Zero
Commitment on the road to Net-Zero
With the publication of the Climate Transi- tion Plan (CTP) in accordance with ESRS, the Zumtobel Group has a strategic roadmap for achieving its Net-Zero targets. Specific target values have been defined for the individual decarbonisation levers. Key contributions to the decarbonisation of the company’s own operations were achieved through the expansion of renewa- ble energy and the gradual electrification of the global vehicle fleet. The Scope 1 and 2 emissions reduction target of 9,000 tonnes of CO₂e at the production sites was achieved or exceeded during the 2025/26 financial year. The implementation of further decarbonisa- tion measures in sourcing, energy efficiency and the product portfolio supports the achievement of medium- and long-term climate targets across the entire value chain.
The emission reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) provide the binding framework for the Zumto- bel Group’s transformation pathway towards Net-Zero by 2050. With the published Climate Transition Plan (CTP), specific decarboni- sation levers have been defined across the entire value chain and firmly embedded in the corporate and sustainability strategy. The Zumtobel Group actively supports its customers in achieving their climate targets through energy-efficient lighting solutions and new circular services that make a signi- ficant contribution to reducing emissions in buildings and infrastructure. Through the consistent implementation of measures relating to emissions reduction, energy efficiency and sustainable sourcing, further progress was achieved on the path to Net-Zero during the 2025/26 financial year.
22
1.2 CIRCULAR ECONOMY GUIDING LIGHT
How we apply the principles of the circular economy to the entire value chain
In doing so, we combine sustainable sourcing, circular product design and new service offerings to keep resources in eco- nomic circulation for as long as possible and support customers on their path towards a more sustainable lighting infrastructure.
PATHS THAT LEAD US IN CIRCLES AND STILL TAKE US FORWARD.
By developing circular business models in the form of Circular Services, we firmly em- bed the principles of the Circular Economy in our corporate mindset. We take Circular Economy requirements into account already at the beginning of product development. By applying the Circular Design Rules (CDR), we consistently align our product portfolio with circularity. The focus lies on the use of circular ma- terials, increasing recycled content and recyclability, as well as product designs that support repair, reuse and remanufacturing, thereby creating the foundation for Circular Services. For us, the Circular Economy is not merely a vision but a strategic development pathway. Through Circular Design Rules and Circular Services, we create the foundation for multiple use cycles of our products.

For selected product lines, the Zumtobel Group is offering a Remanufacturing Service for the first time, enabling the refurbishment and reuse of luminaires. The Circular Design Rules are an integral part of product development and create the conditions for the refurbishment and reuse of products through design for disassembly, repairability and spare part availability. The increased use of recycled materials supports the reduction of raw material con- sumption and emissions across the entire product life cycle.
The Circular Economy enables the reuse, refurbishment and recycling of products and materials and therefore contributes to the efficient use of natural resources. New regulatory requirements are continuous- ly monitored and integrated into the further development of products and processes. By developing circular business models, such as remanufacturing services, new economic and environmental opportunities are unlocked for both customers and the company.

Commitment on the road to becoming the Partner of Choice
Highlights on the road to becoming the Partner of Choice
A sustainable and inclusive transformation of the economy requires close collabora- tion across corporate boundaries. The goal is to reconcile growth, competition, and cli- mate protection with socially just transition. Digital processes and networked thinking are cornerstones of success in this ende- avor. The Zumtobel Group involves busi- ness partners along the entire value chain to jointly find solutions to the challenges ahead. In an environment of new regulatory frameworks, we tap into opportunities for innovation and competitiveness. In our collaboration with suppliers, transpa- rency, respect for human rights, and high social standards are central. An established digital solution (DigiSus) enables efficient supplier management and, together with other elements—such as the Code of Con- duct for Business Partners or the internal whistleblower system —the framework for fulfilling due diligence obligations. Through its People Strategy “We Shine As One,” the Zumtobel Group aims to be the employer of choice for all those who want to develop their potential and drive the future of lighting. To achieve their sustainability goals, cus- tomers are looking for holistic solutions and reliable data at the corporate, solution, and product levels. Through dialogue, the Zumtobel Group is committed to meeting these requirements both substantively and systematically. In this way, the company serves as a partner and offers targeted solutions that meet the needs of customers and end users.
Building on the focus on digitalization and the transformation of supplier manage- ment established in fiscal year 2024/25, the Zumtobel Group further expanded these measures in fiscal year 2025/26. Measures for the company’s own workforce include, among other things, annual perfor- mance and development reviews, programs to promote physical and mental health, and initiatives to strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), including communication efforts on DE&I topics, the “Female Role Models” program, reverse mentoring, and the expansion of DE&I training offerings, including a leadership program. By further developing components, lumi- naires, lighting management systems, and digital solutions, the Zumtobel Group is strengthening its position as an innovation partner for energy-efficient and connected buildings. Collaborations with Siemens, ABB, and Legrand expand the portfolio of solutions for smart space and smart building applicati- ons. Customers receive solutions tailored to a wide range of requirements and levels of complexity—from lighting components to in- telligently networked building and integrated systems that meet regulatory requirements and enhance competitiveness.
